Direct Support Professional
A Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities who reside in an Adult Residential Setting. DSP’s provide hands-on training, assistance and support services to individuals with developmental disabilities in a manner that ensures their health, safety and successful achievement of service objectives and personal goals which are outlined in their Individual Service Plan (ISP).

Behavioral Specialist
The Behavioral Specialist (BS) provides daily direct care as well as behavioral support for individuals with developmental disabilities residing in our Adult Residential settings. Through hands on training, assistance and support services they ensure the individuals in their care are able to live healthy, safe, and successful lives in line with their own personal goals and Behavioral Support Plans (BSP).

Career Facilitator
The Career Facilitator is an integral part of the Employment Services department, providing job coaching and community support to client both inside and outside the agency. While developing work skills and providing valuable feedback and advice on how to approach the challenges of the modern day work environment are key parts of the Career Facilitator’s role, they also provide support and coaching to many of the local high school’s special education departments, preparing soon to be graduates with a path forwards as they prepare for starting a new phase in life.

Janitorial Positions
The Maher Center prides itself with its many community connections and our partnership with Naval Station Newport is no exception. Through this connection we are able to provide janitorial services to many locations on the base including the Naval War College, the Surface Officer Warfare School, and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center. The majority of these janitorial positions are specifically designed for individuals with developmental disabilities, to provide a place of employment and support.
