RI Legislators to Visit the Maher Center

The Maher Center will be hosting an informational tour of their Aquidneck Avenue Campus for Senate President Paiva Weed, Senator DiPalma, Senator Ottiano, and Rep. Gallison on Thursday, December 1st at 9am. This tour will introduce the legislators to the broad range of services that advance independence and create opportunities for children and adults with developmental disabilities, their families and the community at large that the Maher Center facilitates on a daily basis.

The Maher Center provides services and supports to hundreds of children and adults with developmental and physical disabilities, and just as meaningfully, provides peace of mind and hope to their families. It has a reputation of being professionally managed, with staff dedicated to providing the highest quality of services. In the most recent year, close to 300 people participated in work opportunity programs; over 100 received residential services; almost 90 children and families benefited from Early Intervention; and literally thousands of people in the East Bay reached their destinations because of RIde transportation services. These services include a wide array of opportunities for people with differing abilities ... from Early Intervention for infants and toddlers, to support for people with disabilities who also experience the added complications of aging, such as Alzheimer's disease.
