Accompanied by Angelo Tartaglione, Executive Director, and Walter Jachna, Board President, David Cicilline - Congressman for the 1st District of the State of Rhode Island - toured our Aquidneck Campus on August 25th. The Congressman visited and talked Congressman David Cicilline visits Maher Centerwith many of our clients while they were engaged in various activities in our workshop, our commercial laundry and our Garden Center. While touring and listening to Mr. Tartaglione's descriptions of the Maher Center's mission and its goals and objectives, as well as our many work opportunity programs, the Congressman frequently expressed both pleasure and surprise at the many visible accomplishments of people with developmental disabilities here at the Maher Center.

Dennis DeMarinis, Capital Campaign Manager, and Dennis Marren, Capital Campaign Committee Chairman, took advantage of this opportunity to share information about the Center's vision for future expansion and improvements to our programs. As are so many other visitors, Congressman Cicilline was noticeably impressed with the Maher Center throughout his visit; and, before leaving, was kind enough to offer his assistance to us wherever we might find it needed.
