The James L. Maher Center is proud to present our 22nd Annual Black Light Performance in affiliation with "Christmas in Newport." Our performers will be made up of individuals with disabilities from the James L. Maher Center; students from Salve Regina University & Middletown High School. They will use Sign Language to perform a musical holiday show under black light. The amazing show will take place on Saturday, December 17th from 3 - 5pm at the Casino Theater on Freebody Street in Newport. If you wish to experience this beautiful event please call Isabel at 401-846-0340 to purchase tickets in advance. The ticket price will be $6 adults & $4 children.
The Maher Center provides services and support to hundreds of children and adults with developmental and physical disabilities, and just as meaningfully, provides peace of mind and hope to their families. It has a reputation of being well run and well managed, with staff dedicated to providing the highest quality of services. In the most recent year, close to 300 people participated in work opportunity programs; over 100 received residential services; almost 90 children and families benefited from Early Intervention; and literally thousands of people in the East Bay reached their destinations because of RIde transportation services. These services include a wide array of opportunities for people with differing abilities, from Early Intervention for infants and toddlers, to support for people with disabilities who also experience the added complications of aging, such as Alzheimer's disease.
"It is community support at events such as this that enables us here at the Maher Center to continue to provide services that enhance and enrich the lives of so many people with developmental and physical disabilities." said Mea Simanski, Event Coordinator
