Community Employment

The Maher Center prepares disabled clients for success on the job before finding employment for them. The Community Employment Program prepares Maher Center Clients to be responsible, productive employees, places these individuals with area concerns and provides on-the-job support.

To ensure our clients' job success, we develop a personalized employment plan for each. Specially-trained job coaches help prepare clients for job interviews and provide continuing support, along with ongoing training, throughout their employment.

Just as important, the Maher Center maintains strong alliances with other non-profits, government agencies and area businesses to continue enlarging and refining the community placement program to achieve higher levels of success.

Today, Maher Center clients with developmental disabilities are employed throughout the community. They work as pet groomers, custodial workers, and pharmacy technicians, in restaurants, kitchens and supermarkets, where they are engaged in the community and living independent lives.
